PUMPKIN SOUP

This is one of the 2 winning soups from the Soupalicious Challenge and Give Away, this recipe was submitted by Tiffany from Surviving Four Kids!

2 Tablespoons of olive oil
1 Leek ~ sliced and chopped
1 Teaspoon of minced garlic or one crushed clove
Pinch of coriander or parsley
1 Teaspoon of cumin
Pinch of nutmeg
1kg pumpkin diced - I used butter~nut
1 Potato ~ peeled and chopped
1 Litre stock ~ either chicken or vegetable.
½ Cup cream
Salt & Pepper

The winner is ~ La Zuppa Soupalicious Challenge and Give Away

Congratulations to Stephanie and Tiffany from Surviving Four Kids.

The Cauliflower and Pumpkin soups were a hit.

My kids went back for seconds and even thirds. Hubby and I also enjoyed them too.

Because both soups were so delicious and easy to make ~ it was really hard to pick the best one (even the children couldn't decide) so there just had to be two winners!  Therefore 20 packs of La Zuppa soups will go to both of you.

I will also feature both recipes on my blog along with photos and the author too (if you wish).  So Please check your inbox for further details.

Tardiness is not tolerated......

Being late is something people either hate and try to avoid or have made it a habit and are never on time.

Whether you are one or the other once you have children being LATE is a constant struggle in life.

When one is organised, being late should never happen. If you prepare ahead (the evening before) then there is No Excuse for being late the following day.....right?

Soupalicious Challenge and Give Away! - ENDED

There is nothing better than a delicious bowl of warm soup on a cold and frosty day.

Soup is generally made by combining different ingredients such as meats and vegetables with either stocks, juices, water or other liquids.   Soup is almost a stew, but has more liquid and can also taste much better the day after making it.

Facial expressions ~ especially when tasting new foods!

It was a cold and wet day again here in VIC.  My 3 year old sat glued to the couch watching his favourite DVD ~ BRUM.

If ever you get a chance to watch this childrens programme, it is quite amusing (even funny in some scenes).

Why were they not born with a user manual?

Toilet training would have to be the worst possible task when bringing up children (especially boys). There is no right or wrong way about going about it as each child is different, individual and has their own way of achieving this goal. Whether it be with ease or utter chaos, the potty training saga can be a delight or total dismay!

GARLIC BOK CHOY, SPINACH OR SILVER BEET

Did you know that you don't have to boil spinach in water to cook it.  I never do as I believe it looses its flavour and just tastes bland and turns out like mush.

The warm comforts of home.

Here in Victoria when the cold weather begins, it can hit suddenly. For those who are from this state, one would agree that VIC can really have 'four seasons in one day! During Autumn and the coming of winter; most days are cold, wet and miserable.

As a stay at home mum; these cold and rainy days (when there is no need for shopping or errands), are best spent  indoors within the warmth and comfort of home.

Kids and technology

If by chance you enjoyed reading my last two posts on our driving holiday with the kids, you may have realised (or perhaps not) that I did not mention any electronic 'entertainment' within both those posts.

The children did not have any iPods, MP3 players, Nitendo DS; DVD players (though a DVD player or two would have been fantastic).

"How many more hours to go dad"?

"On the road again, I just can't wait to get on the road again"....Willie Nelson obviously never traveled with children when he wrote this song....

"Are we there yet"?

Travelling long distances with kids has its moments of enjoyment, but for the most part it can be classed as pure exhaustion, frustration and total agony.

Over the week and a half (2012 Easter holidays), my family took an epic never ending journey drive across two Australian states.

Hats, hats and more hats ~ who likes hats?

Hats, what's not to love like about them?  Especially the old fashioned vintage ones.

I can not remember the first time I started to like hats; (perhaps my mother might have an answer to this one) however, in my teens I went off them and could never find any that would suit me.
